Two reviewers state:
- I've been severely chemically sensitive for nearly 8 years, and this booklet is the very best explanation of the illness I have ever seen. I'm ordering a big batch to give to friends and family.
-
Sherry Rogers was my doctor for a number of years. She was always ahead of her time and now it shows! All of her books are wonderful, informative, easy to read and life saving. I hope everyone gets as much from this and all her books as I have. You'll be amazed at how much you DON'T know about your body, the environment and how we are killing ourselves until you read these books. Trust me, I am only a consumer here, but I pass these books on to everyone I care about and have for years! I'm going to post this to all the books I have read by Sherry. I just can't say enough about this woman. She literally saved my life (allergies, life and health threatening mineral and vitamin deficiencies) and my husband's too (bladder cancer).

Having this book is like having your own personal team of 'pro bono' advocates on call to support you 24 hours a day. It contains up-to-date medical and legal information, as well as a detailed, very personal, compelling case history with which you will easily identify. A section on Workers’ Compensation, by attorney Randolph I. Gordon will be invaluable to anyone trying to navigate this circuitous, often unresponsive system. It will also serve as a treasured aid to anyone involved in toxic tort litigation. It contains useful information on hazard communication, regulatory guidelines, the validity of low-level exposures, proving causation in the courtroom, coping with skepticism, along with pertinent legal precedents to help you authoritatively present your case to a prospective attorney.
If you need to help document your injuries, you can learn about the latest in brain scanning technology, critically analyze the medical literature on MCS and sort out the distortions from the facts. You will learn how to defend yourself against arrogant medical misdiagnoses and learn to appreciate the reasons why conventional medicine prefers to define MCS as psychogenic rather than admit that it is an avoidable problem of chemical poisoning.

Allergic to the Twentieth Century : The Explosion in Environmental Allergies -- From Sick Buildings to Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
by Peter Radetsky, Bill Phillips (Editor)
|
A Wake-up Call on the Dangers of Environmental Poisoning
The author presents well-documented material on a very current controversial subject which is affecting l5% of the population severely, and many more in lesser degrees; creating debillitating illness in productive members of society, causing them to become disabled and unemployed. The tragedy of the message is poignantly spelled out by the author, revealing the AMA's denial of the diagnosis of MCS, which contributes to the distress of patients who must suffer through contempt and lack of care by medical doctors who are influenced by economic dictates and refuse to treat the complex patient.
This book is a blessing for MCS sufferers, since it offers hope that it will alert proper politicians and governmental officials to address this issue properly, offer medical care to the Veterans of the Gulf War Syndrome, and implement legislation to prevent further chemical poisoning in our public indoor environment. I highly recommend this book for everyone, to instill awareness of the dangers of chemicals in our environment. This is a very thorough documentation on the subject of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. |

Toxic Deception : How the Chemical Industry Manipulates Science, Bends
the Law, and Endangers Your Health
by Dan Fagin (Contributor), Marianne Lavelle, Center for Public Integrity
|
Two prize-winning investigative reporters have dug deep into the secretive world of the nation's chemical giants and unearthed enough wrongdoing to shake America' faith in many of the products of our homes. Yet rather than merely exposing the injustices of the chemical industry, Toxic Deception offers an optimistic vision of how consumers can reduce their own risk and how a flawed system of health and safety laws can be rescued through practical reforms.
Dan Fagin and Marianne Lavelle, two prize-winning investigative reporters who specialize in
environmental writing, and the Center for Public Integrity have dug deep into the secretive world
of the chemical giants and unearthed enough disturbing questions to shake America's faith in
many household products and in much of the food we consume. Without polemic, the authors
show precisely how manufacturers have managed to keep harmful products on the market even
when safer, cheaper alternatives are available. Drawing on the resources of the Center for Public
Integrity, a nonprofit group well known for its exposes of political influence in Washington, the
authors offer vivid examples of how the chemical industry flexes its muscle in order to
outmaneuver government watchdogs. Toxic Deception also details the stories of courageous
families fighting the system, like the Grahams, who, after a series of pesticide sprayings, saw
their farm become a chamber of environmental horrors where dead birds littered the fields, the
family cow gave bloody milk, the pond foamed, and family members suffered an array of serious
illnesses. Not just another jeremiad exposing the injustices and hazards of the chemical industry,
Toxic Deception explains how consumers can reduce their own risk and rescue a flawed system
of health and safety laws.

Chemical Exposures : Low Levels and High Stakes
by Nicholas A. Ashford, Claudia S. Miller
|
Of all that I have read on the subject of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), this is by far the most cogent, balanced, organized, and complete summary of information on this mysterious medical phenomenon. I would recommend it to anyone who suffers from MCS, TILT, CFIDS, or any of the constellation of related supposedly "psychological" symptomologies, including depression, anxiety disorder, or bi-polar illness. Read it BEFORE you spend another nickel on supplements, vitamins, or anti-depressant drugs!
The best source for the latest science & policy info on MCS!
The 2nd edition of Chemical Exposures reviews all sides of the MCS debate--with much new information on scientific and policy developments since the first edition. I recommend it highly for patients, physicians, and policy makers. --Albert Donnay, Exec. Director, MCS Referral & Resources

Our Stolen Future : Are We Threatening Our Fertility, Intelligence, and Survival?-A
Scientific Detective Story
by Theo Colborn, Dianne Dumanoski, John Peterson Myers
|
Forgotten Future takes the reader from the fields and lakes where wildlife is having reproduction problems to the labratory where PHD scientists, are struggling with the mystery of synthetic chemicals disrupting hormone messages in developing, (unborn) wildlife and humans. Easy to read, this book unfolds like a mystery novel and draws some very serious conclusions about the toxic world we have created for ourselves by using billiions of tons of synthetic chemicals. We are all un-wittingly participating in a dangerous global experiment with numerous persistant, synthetic chemical toxins which, invisably, disrupt and scramble the body's chemical messages.
For anyone who is concerned about the state of the environment this is a must read book. Well written and researched this book fills in the big gaps regarding chemical pollutants in our water, soil, and air. This isn't a cheerful book but perhaps with the data presented more people will become involved in cleaning up our planet through cleaning up our industrial sector.

Your Home, Your Health and Well Being
by David Rousseau, Jean Enwright (Contributor), W. J. Rea (Contributor)
|
"I have a book by David Rousseau, W.J. Rea and Jean Enwright called "Your Home, Your Health & Well-Being." I found it in the allergy and health area in a bookstore. It tells how to design or renovate your house or apartment to be free of outdoor and indoor pollution. With MCS, I did not have the energy or money to begin to read all that they said. (Those of you with MCS know exactly what I mean.) But I read enough to get some ideas of things to do. There is a very helpful section that discusses paints, varnishes, furniture polishes, upholstery, bedding, all kinds of stuff. But, in truth, what blew me away most, was the part "Living with environmental illness." It was a personal account of one of the author's struggles with MCS...."
